岩崎良美 (Yoshimi Iwasaki) – 赤と黒（pre-debut version） [Aka to Kuro]

This is a phantom alternate take of her debut single, which has a completely different arrangement as this was only meant to be used as an entry for the 9th Tokyo Music Festival, which she participated in and won an award. At the time of recording however, there wasn’t any plans of her officially debuting yet hence the version title being the “pre-debut version”. The main differences between this and the officially released version is the more fast-paced disco-like rhythm and her less polished vocals, as opposed to the more slow-paced final production.

However, its existence in the first place was only confirmed when she herself talked and remembered about such a version which led to the team in charge of the box set to search the label’s archives in their warehouse which is how it was eventually unearthed and remastered for fans to enjoy.

As of now, it has only been included in the bonus CD for her 30th debut anniversary CD-BOX, which was released on February 17, 2010, which can garner quite a hefty price tag as it was a limited release. Luckily, someone was selling just the bonus CD for a price that made sense, so I just had to buy it! Please enjoy this rare entity in the idol kayo universe! 🙂

これは彼女のデビューシングルの幻の別テイクで、彼女が参加して賞を受賞した第9回東京音楽祭へのエントリー曲としてのみ使用されることを意図していたため、アレンジがまったく異なります。しかし、レコーディング当時は彼女が正式にデビューする予定がなかったため、バージョンタイトルは「デビュー前バージョン」となっています。このバージョンと公式リリースバージョンの主な違いは、より速いテンポのディスコのようなリズムと、よりゆっくりとしたテンポの最終作品とは対照的に、彼女のあまり洗練されていないボーカルです。

しかし、そもそもその存在が確認されたのは、彼女自身がそのようなバージョンについて話し、思い出したことで、ボックスセットを担当するチームがレーベルの倉庫にあるアーカイブを検索し、最終的に発掘され、ファンが楽しめるようにリマスターされたのです。

今のところ、2010年2月17日に発売されたデビュー30周年記念CD-BOXの特典CDにのみ収録されており、限定盤ということもあり、かなり高額になっています。幸い、特典CDだけを格安で販売している方がいたので、思わず買ってしまいました！アイドル歌謡界のレアな一曲を、ぜひお楽しみください！ 🙂
