‘Bittersweet’는 오랜 시간 친구로 지내왔던 세 남녀에게 어느 순간 미묘한 감정선이 교차하며 발견한 사랑의 달콤함과 이와 동시에 우정의 씁쓸함을 느끼는 상반된 감정을 표현한 곡으로 원우, 민규가 직접 작사에 참여해 ‘사랑과 우정 사이’의 딜레마를 풀어냈다. 원우, 민규의 매니쉬한 보이스 컬러에 독보적 음색의 아티스트 이하이가 피처링으로 참여해 성숙함을 더했으며 세 사람이 함께 만들어내는 완벽한 음악적 케미스트리가 이 곡의 관전 포인트다.

WONWOO and MINGYU from SEVENTEEN are kicking off the group’s 2021 project Power of ‘Love’ with the release of their digital single, “Bittersweet.”SEVENTEEN has begun a new chapter with their project for 2021, Power of ‘Love’. With their project, SEVENTEEN plans to fill the year with the sensation of honest but radiant love by singing about all the love we might encounter at different moments throughout our lives.

The song “Bittersweet” expresses the conflict between the sweetness of newly-discovered love and the sting of friendship among a group of three longtime friends by tracing the delicate trails of emotion to the place where they cross. WONWOO and MINGYU helped write the lyrics, which illustrates the dilemma “between love and friendship.”Featuring in the song with her unrivaled vocal timbre is artist Lee Hi, adding a sense of maturity to WONWOO and MINGYU’s masculine vocals. The result is such perfect musical chemistry that this highlight is not to be missed.

  25. If you watch the mv simultaneously read the lyrics by the scene. Then you'll see it interpret little different when you watch it in a normal manner.
    Like 0:32 "One you and two moons" where wonwoo thinks that she likes mingyu and mingyu liked her too.

    0:38 "I'm hiding in the rain always smiling" reminds the last scene(2:36) when mingyu calls wonwoo in the rain smiling.

    1:02 "Eyes meet but hearts apart, so sweet and so bitter" probably wonwoo likes her as they share the earphones which is sweet but she doesn't feel the same which is bitter.

    1:13 where he thinks about them the first person comes to his mind is wonwoo as he and mingyu happily dancing then we see she is also there. Which is like reality hits.

    1:38 "I stand still before you before me" when he comes with the girl's hat. Mingyu is standing before wonwoo and wonwoo standing before Mingyu. But then realises that it will never work out as the girl is still between them ig the hat symbolises that or the heart of her?
    Wonwoo might have thought that mingyu likes the girl so gives him the hat but reality is something different.

    2:12 "I close my eyes but thoughts of you bring turmoil to night, to you and me, real and dreamy" as he closes his eyes and wonwoo & his scene comes. He might be thinking of him as he states "you and me" which feels real but also dreamy.

    2:23 "is like the heart of a person, eyes meeting but hearts apart" when he glances at him and moves forward might be their eyes meet but their heart will always be apart or the feelings will never be reciprocated. Which is saying at the end of the whole story in the video it might seem that they are chasing the same person but it can be different that was never said. Where the unspoken lingering feelings are sweet but it's bitter cuz he can never say it to him.

    2:39 "Don't want to let go so I let go, you and me we see together" At the end he chose the friendship cuz that's the easiest way to keep themselves together. He doesn't want to loose him so he let go his feelings and accepts the bittersweet reality.
    Ig wonwoo realises too that all this time it was not the girl that mingyu liked it was he himself who mingyu liked. But he chose to stay silent and just stare at him so it doesn't get awkward. And move forward with him in the rain.
    It's like platonic love (the girl doesn't feel anything romantic for either of them rather platonic) – opposite sex love (wonwoo likes the girl) – same sex love (Mingyu likes wonwoo) you can interpretate however you like. It's just how I saw it. I see it in every possible assumption everytime I see. And whenever I watch it, it gives me new vision, how poetic it is.

  41. I think its about friendship between wonwoo and mingyu getting affected when the girl came around and got along with wonwoo. That makes wonwoo upset but he can't make time for his friendship like before. The more closer he gets with the girl, the farther he gets from mingyu. Hence the line where he says "eyes meeting but hearts apart". When wonwoo separates from the girl, his friendship still stays standing for him. The bittersweet love in present in the friendship between mingyu and wonwoo. Yet they persist no matter what
