The final, tragic showdown between Noriaki Kakyoin and DIO. We’re comparing the depiction of his escape and use of Hierophant Green in the gritty 90s Stardust Crusaders OVA versus the modern David Production anime.
From the 20-meter Emerald Splash to Kakyoin’s final message, both versions are iconic, but which one did it better? Is the OVA’s raw animation more powerful, or does the modern anime’s accuracy to the manga win? Let the great debate begin.

  1. 1993 did it better, the action is fast and fluid while still giving you enough to be impressed by. We dont need a slow-mo closeup of DIO deflecting one projectile to deflect the others, the OVA shows just how intense that attack and the effortless counter were

  2. OVA is just too intense for me, Kakyoin's Hierophant has like instant Emerald Splash and Dio is still blocking it so casually

  4. For as much as the OVA seems to aura farm, this is one scene I think the Anime did the Aura Farm better. And its mostly because the OVA happens so quickly while the Anime takes its time with the reflects.
