SEVENTEEN is a South Korean boy band formed by Pledis Entertainment. The group consists of 13 members: Scoups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino. SEVENTEEN is widely known as a “self-producing” idol group, with its members actively participating in songwriting, music production, choreography, and many other aspects of their music and performances.
The group debuted on May 26, 2015, with the extended play (EP) 17 Carat, which became the longest-charting K-pop album by a rookie group in the US that year and the only rookie album to appear on Billboard‘s “10 Best K-Pop Albums of 2015” list. Since then, they have released five Korean studio albums, all of which have topped South Korea’s Circle Album Chart, along with several Korean and Japanese EPs. Their 2023 EPs, FML and Seventeenth Heaven, set records as two of the best-selling albums in history, with FML becoming the best-selling album of 2023.
In addition to promoting as a full group, the members are divided into three specialized units—Hip-Hop Unit, Vocal Unit, and Performance Unit. They have also formed several official sub-units, including BSS, JxW, HxW, CxM, DxS, and V8. Throughout their career, SEVENTEEN has earned widespread acclaim for their concerts and live performances, receiving titles such as “Performance Kings,” “K-pop Performance Powerhouse,” and “Kings of Synchronization” from both domestic and international media.
