甲斐智枝美 – An Introduction to Chiemi Kai (1980 ~ 1982)

Winner of the 1979 “Star Tanjou!” idol scouting contest, she was chosen by Horipro to be one of the idols post-Momoe that would hopefully recapture her success. Sadly, like a lot of 1980 idols, due to the sudden boom and over-saturation, even ones from big companies like Victor failed. She would better known in the late 80s as an actress then retiring in 1990. She would reappear in the industry for the last time in 2004 as she would sadly pass away two years later. She has a lot of similarites with junior, Chiemi Hori – talent agency, name, and even vocal style – makes me think if that was Horipro’s intention. Honestly, her songs are are so good and she deserved more success, like actually. Chiemi [star] is and always will be an idol, that’s for sure… Hope you’re doing well, wherever your soul is~ Enjoy this severly underrated idol! 🙂
