Bae Suzy rose faster than almost any star in Korean entertainment, but fame came with a price few understood. Well, she's not onscreen anymore. She dated a man 15 years her senior.
That's how you do it. Good video.
Koreans think they have the right and responsibility to dictate the lives of celebs.
I’ll keep saying it. The entertainment business is not worth getting into because you are controlled by higher powers and your own fans. Your life isn’t your own anymore. The fact you can’t even date unless the fans ship your relationship is sick.
Korea is just different. They treat idols and actors like they are the physical property of their fans. Literally fans have the right to dictate their style and careers. Suzy and Yoona have literally had no choice but to keep long, dark hair for their entire careers, as poster girls for a quintessential Korean beauty, IU and Irene as well. I remember when Yoonas and Irene's fans sent protest trucks to SM when they changed up their style. Had no choice but to change it back. And this behaviour is 100 TIMES worse for female stars versus the male stars. What a male star can get away with, a female CANNOT get away with, they will be absolutely crucified. And the patriarchal society turns the male led fanbases into something absolutely predator and disgusting. Like on the livestreams you can literally see male fans writing things like "You don't have a boyfriend right? You can't have a boyfriend! I'm going to be really upset if you do! You never let anyone touch you right? Youre still an untounched woman right? Show more cleavage! What color is your underwear right now? Make sure your don't gain any weight! How much do you weigh? Make sure you don't ever go past xyz. You better not let any men look at you except (fanbase name)! THESE are the type of comments you see on EVERY female idola Livestreams. The male idols/actors don't have it as bad, because Korean women know they will be more judged/crucified for making blatantly sexual comments online. The men though?? Just no holds barred, the patriarchy gives them wings!
She just needs to push for a second season of Vagabond and the fans will get back on the Suzy bandwagon. I understand first hand how fickle fans can be. I loved Go Young Jung as Naksu in Alchemy of Souls season 1. Then fell in love with Jung So Min as Mudoeki. I then hated the fact that Jung So Min was not going to be in season 2. Fast forward to Can This Love Be Translated and now I'm on the fan train for Go Youn Jung. So go Suzy for Vagabond 2 and fickle fans like me will come back.
Horrible video, especially the condescending voice, and I'm not Korean. All Korean entertainment stars are put on pedestals and not allowed mistakes, that's why their suicide rate is so high. She isn't the only queen, so do some research. The same goes in China and Japan.
American celebs could not care less about what anyone thinks about them. Just as long as they get paid.
I like her, she looks lovely and sweet. My first time seeing her is in drama, then in the next drama i know her more, like that she was an idol.
Not like she didnt know, its been this way for many years. Unless blind 8r couldnt read, she chose this life.
Watch Doona. It's very personal. Read between the lines.
I read that she struggled with depression and felt like she didn't know herself at times. I get the feeling she’s actually a total goofball at heart, but the 'Nation’s First Love' brand and the expectations that come with it really boxed her in. Because the media is always watching, she’s under constant pressure to maintain that perfect, feminine image instead of just being herself
It must be so exhausting. Suzy, hwaiting! I hope you feel free to show your goofy side more often. You’re more than just a brand..
