  2. After coming in first in three major competitions, including the Rubinstein, I don't understand why Kevin is competing here. I don't know what his goals are but if it is a touring career giving concerts, he could do that now. Alex Malofeev, who turns 24 this month, is playing 5 to 10 concerts a month in Europe, USA and China with major orchestras to critical acclaim after a Youtube career and only one contest first prize when he was 13 years old.

  3. I am instantly moved by his enigmatic touch. It is extremely expressive. Turning nostalgia into a lovely dream of Egyptian barges and gently twisting palm fronds and delicious dates and coconuts. Never thought this nocturne would paint such an exotic scene. This interpretation is stunning! PWG. Best ever nocturne rendition!

  4. I’m “skerd”! This fantasy is one of my earliest Chopin spectres. It always drew me into a realm of veiled half-light visions and gorgeous panoramic seascapes. Maybe another Egyptian Oasis barge down the ancient Hiddekel river? This young maestro has a piercing musical gift and virtuosity coupled with a scathing intellect. He is cobalt blue cool and ferociously fearless! BRAVA!!! PWG

  5. Kevin definitely might be one of the strongest winner candidate for the competition, his etude simply is more than just intruiging and I am deeply fascinated into his artistic techniques

  7. Definitely the favorite to win this competition after his astounding first round performance. To have achieved this level of maturity and technical accomplishments in his performance at such young age is incredible. Reminds me of SJ Cho and Bruce Liu but with much more conviction at this early stage of the competition. Way to go!

  9. His performance blew my mind. Brilliant control and beautiful phrasing. Definitely want to see him in the final stage. Bravo!

  11. anyone know why he uses 4th finger instead of 5th to play many of his left hand octaves? have never noticed pianists doing that as much as he did here…. 🤷‍♀️

  12. Wow, that was amazing! ✨ His musical sense is incredible! He is a genius at the piano! That wasn’t a competition, it was a recital.
I kept watching his fingers, trying to figure out how he got that sound. I think it’s because he has an incredible ear for music, he just knows exactly how to play to get the sound he wants.
