  1. Yall should do his live for the song Y si fuera Ella !!! I cry every time I see that damn video like it’s not even funny 😭😭

  2. Don't, absolutely do not miss Jonghyun's cover of Maxwell's 'This Woman's Work' LIVE.( shinee subbr1 channel is the version you want). It's practically a capella, mostly piano and his amazing voice and range. It's in English. Have tissues because the emotion in his voice. It's live, intimate, small room, live band. It's WOW WOW WOW. I look forward to my R&B girls reaction.💙SHINEE will always be five💙💙💙💙💙

  3. Jonghyun’s voice whether singing or speaking up about social issues and equality is always a great comfort to me ❤️. A true artist. And so missed.

Yes, this is by him and he wrote it with his puppy Roo in mind ❤️.

  4. I know the lyrics sound like it could be about a romantic partner but Jonghyun himself said he was inspired to write this song because of the comfort he felt when he came home and was greeted by his puppy Roo. He wanted to write a song that created that feeling of comfort for others at the end of their long work days. He wrote the vast majority of his solo work including every single song from his debut album "Base". He was the first (and if I'm not mistaken only) person in SM Entertainment to write his entire debut album. He also has many composing credits including composing credits for five songs on his debut album. He also wrote and composed many songs for SHINee. "End of a Day" is always very emotional for Shawols especially because of the lyrics "You did a good job. You worked hard." which is something Jonghyun said he wanted to be told himself. Roo is still part of the SHINee fam of course as Jonghyun's younger sister still posts updates about Roo to this day.

  5. I just found you two! Love! And that you are reacting to my love of all loves. I'm an older lady with kids your age and have followed Shinee since their debut. I also like a number of other groups and soloists but something about Jonghyun – his voice, his presence…has settled so deep in my soul. May he rest in peace.

  6. I recommend these presentations of our king jonghyun, to appreciate his talent and his beautiful voice. 💎❤️

  7. "End of a Day" was another song that was written and composed by Jonghyun. It was part of his Story Op. 1 album, which was an album created from songs inspired by stories from listeners of Jonghyun's Blue Night radio program that he hosted for 3 years at midnight every night — from 2015-April 2017. The song was meant to give listeners comfort and healing as they listened to it at the end of a long hard day. The song was inspired by Jonghyun's dog Roo (Byulroo) who was always there waiting for him as a source of comfort and happiness at the end of a long day. The song was written for his fans, and specifically his listeners of his radio show, who would write him messages and tell him about how they were listening to his show after a long hard day of work, etc.

In Korean "good job" or "you worked hard" is a VERY common phrase people say almost daily when they get off work. It's similar to how we say "goodbye" to our co-workers as we are leaving or "I'm home" when we get home at night. However, since Jonghyun's passing, these lyrics hold a different meaning now because in his note he left he said, "Please tell me I did well" and "good job" for enduring everything. Which is why you will see that Shawols always end comments about Jonghyun with "You did well." So now we listen to "End of a Day" with this in mind and interpret the lyrics as Jonghyun singing about what he wished someone would say to him. Which leaves us with the message that we should take the time to acknowledge the hard work of everyone we come in contact with and make sure they know how much they are appreciated as often as possible. Even more than 7 years after he passed away, his messages he left within his songs are still resonating and impacting the world.

Jonghyun's radio program was really popular and he had a lot of fans. Jonghyun had the perfect personality and voice as a radio DJ and he loved being on the radio. He brought a lot of comfort and healing to his listeners every night. He also got a lot of inspiration from his listeners. He even released 2 albums with songs all based on stories he was told by listeners and guests on his show. We were all sad when he decided to end the show, but he was gearing up for his solo concert tour, as well as activities with SHINee, etc. and he could no longer devote the time or energy to be there every night. (When SHINee was out of the country for concerts or promotions, etc. Jonghyun would often have to fly back to Korea each night just to host the show. So, it was understandable when he decided to stop hosting, he was becoming worn out.)

If you ever want to see Jonghyun's radio show, just search YouTube for "Jonghyun Blue Night." You can find clips and even full episodes with English subs. My favorite episodes were when Jonghyun's friends were on the program, but all the episodes are great and his words are a source of comfort, support and healing still today. It's totally worth checking out in order to get to really see what Jonghyun was like.

Jonghyun, you did well, our amazing poet, artist, inspiration.

  8. This performance should be considered a global treasure, imo.

The studio version is gentler, without the power vocals that Jjong builds up to in this performance. Equally beautiful, just soft and comforting throughout.

Jonghyun does so many different things with his voice and clearly has incredible command of that, an extraordinary range, a vocal tone that's always distinctively "Jjong" while ranging from pure and sweet to gorgeously twangy. If you want a short master class in vocal mastery and joy, Jonghyun really brings it in the Love Like Oxygen section of the Shinee World 5 Unplugged Medley.

This is SHINee, not solo, but I highly recommend Romeo + Juliet from Shinee World 5 – not only for the glorious vocals, but for the obvious joy Jjong is taking in the performance.

A couple of suggestions to add to everyone else's solo recs:
Moon (but to be fair to the song – which is Prince-inspired and fabulous – you should probably just watch a lyrics video and listen to the song first; if you watch the existing fancam of Jjong's performance of it I guarantee you will NOT be paying attention to the music)
Elevator (heartbreaking lyrics, voice to make a person believe in heaven)
Let Me Out (even more heartbreaking lyrics, but imo one of Jonghyun's masterpieces)
    Diphyellia Grayi (haunting, otherworldly ballad)

I remember reading that Jonghyun really liked more intimate performances and wanted to do guerrilla pop-up concerts but SM was concerned about security and wouldn't allow quite that much spontaneity.

  9. Lot's of great suggestions in the comment section for killer Jonghyun parts. I'd add …

Farewell My Love from SWC V
Quasimodo from SWC The First 2010
Life from SWC The First 2010
    Password from SWC 2013
Opening set from SWC IV (Sherlock, SHINe, Stranger)
    Sleepless Nights from SWC III

    I could go on …

  10. Yes, the lyricist and composer of this song is Jonghyun. Jonghyun has album name Storyop.1 and Storyop.2 he composed and wrote lyrics for the whole 2 albums, it has many beautiful melodies in it. I hope you guys will listen to them.

  11. This song feels like a hug every time💞 so many songs Jjong has written contain all the things I wanna say to him too. His voice is my absolute favourite, I've never heard someone able to do as much with it and with so much character.
Some more killer Jjong vocals: Y si fuera ella (the breath control omg), Romeo and Juliet (SWC5), Replay (SWC4), Hold You (SWC5), This Woman's Work (Maxwell cover), View+Married to the Music (Golden Disk Awards 2016 – adlibbing away lmao).
