  6. I agree that Mamamoo are great singers. So I recommend "Come Back Home unplugged" by 2NE1 as an example of excellent singing. 2NE1 is the group Mamamoo modeled themselves on.

  8. Don't be sad! I think the most comforting thing is that by all appearances every member of Mamamoo is happy with their life and their career and that they're all doing exactly what they want. Not that they don't deserve more but when I think of their struggles and the mountains they've climbed to get where they are I realize that my personal obstacles are molehills by comparison. They're inspirational role models to many, even old farts like me, and listening to MMM never fails to brighten my day and lighten my load. 😂
    Illella is an interesting song because it's the last title track they released. Unlike almost every previous single they're not breaking new ground or experimenting with a genre they haven't done before, they're simply flexing their style, their personalities, their talent and the unique brand they're crafted as Mamamoo.
    Illella is one of their few MVs that doesn't have multiple symbolic levels of meaning. Imo the MV is a riddle for moomoos that none of us solved at the time – the whole video is a spoiler for their subsequent world tour. They love to joke and play games with moomoos and moomoos love to catch them revealing spoilers for their future plans (Solar is queen of spoilers, being a yeba lol). In this case they gave us an enormous spoiler but we didn't notice the elephant in the room. I'm sure you noted all the modes of transportation in the MV from the helipad to the truck, the bikes, motorcycles, the car, the shopping cart and even Hwasa's mechanical bull. They were telling us they were about to hit the road and finally embark on a world tour. They even included those stunning shots of them in black leather walking under a stage. Illella is the title track from the Mic On album and, since MMM loves puns, they turned the album title into the title of the world tour: My Con. Imo calling the album Mic On was a not so subtle dig at all the groups who lip sync in performance.
    If the current crop of girl groups isn't doing much for you I'd recommend checking out some of the great girl groups and soloists who came along before Mamamoo. But rather than giving you a list of artists perhaps I should suggest a half dozen favorite songs by female artists other than MMM, 3 by groups and 3 by soloists. Hopefully a few will be new to you and you find someone you like.

  10. moonbyul has a gathering , celebrating her 1st anniversary with her fans today, just notice that she put the entire fanclub name on the ending screen, i found my name there though i can't join , how sweet they are. Mamamoo always prepare something for us on their BD, especially Moonbyul , her BD is on Dec 22, she has been giving us song as gift on her BD for several years, you can react if you have time and mood: snow, a miracle 3 days ago, present, chemistry , 11:11, this year is make it christmas, some of them is on her channel, thanks and enjoy !

  13. Cant wait to see you react to their solo stuff. Moonbyul shut down, lunatic, eclipse. Solar Spit it out, Honey, But I. Wheein Watercolor, Make me happy, Easy. Hwasa LMM, I'm a B, Maria, (i think you said youve seen Maria, so maybe check out Hwasa with Loco "dont"). they really have so much more than just those, but those are some of my go to songs for each member.

  14. Backlash or hate, no one can stop them! Talent will always find its way to the top, and even if it's hard, groups like Mamamoo won't be forgotten even if they don't produce songs anymore. I always said: Talent and Quality is Eternal! Many Legendary artists and even groups proved that, not just in Kpop, of course. Mamamoo is not just a simple Kpop group, they could stand out even in the West. Honestly, they could be way more popular if they debut in the US. I've seen so many people saying they're like the Korean Destiny's Child. That's like the biggest compliment.

  17. The scene at the end of the It's Live they showed at the end was a teaser for another MDR program called The Fillin' Live that Mamamoo took part in. It's Live doesn't, or at least didn't have any audience. This was when the pandemic was coming to an end, and it was one of the very first audiences they were able to interact with. They performed several songs there. Don't give up on all girl groups. I would suggest you check out Purple Kiss, also from RBW, and Red Velvet. I'm a lot like you. I have watched some big-name groups make appearances at Immortal Songs and do poorly and then I think about some even bigger groups that at least knew better than to try.

  19. MAMAMOO(in 2023) joined the ranks of Destiny's Child, The Spice Girls, and TLC as the ONLY girl groups to sell over 70,000 tickets on their FIRST tour in the USA.

    This makes MAMAMOO the ONLY girl group to achieve this milestone AFTER a 21-year gap.

    AND the ONLY Non-English speaking girl group to accomplish such a feat.

  23. You have to come back to this video after watching all their other title tracks. There are callbacks to almost every one in the Illella video. Maybe ALL of them, but I just haven't spotted all of the callbacks.

There is another live version, look up the Hwasa TV show Mamamoo Hit songs collection live, it is episode 8 (yes hwasa had a TV show) Mamamoo starts with the full song 1llella to a live band with a completely different dance break and the band is much more latin sounding. They also do a medley of songs after and each does part of one of their solo songs but it ends with the ballad Paint Me, also a full song live. I agree there are not many groups or singers who are at mamamoo's level of greatness, not just in korea really anywhere. Not that there are not other singers with extreme talent just mamamoo somehow does it in a way that is different enough to be unique. They are a very very high bar to equal and others will seem disappointing. I do like other groups, Dreamcatcher mainly because I like rock and Mamamoo does not do much rock, band maid in japan for the same reason, I like Le Sserafim as well but this is mainly because my very first experience with this group was a Live how in LA at Blizzcon, there is definitely something different with a live experience, especially with group I didnt know about. And I also saw Mamamoo live, the My Con concert so I have seen 1llella live and they put on very long shows, it isnt just the singing they just do performances overall at a level few reach.

    Mamamoo in their Rookie Years they were so good, every time I see their performances I get goosebumps, it's so sad that Mamamoo disbanded especially for music lovers.
