  1. If Nathan skated clean this sp maybe he took 1st or 2nd place overall. Probably he could 102~104 with 4Lz, 4T3Tx and 3Ax (both in the 2nd half). US media put so much pressure over him, what a shame. Nathan could beat Yuzuru, that's sad.

  2. everyone dissing nathan chen in the comments need to take a step back. surely (if you skate) you’ve had a bad run and missed some things. and that’s what happened. everyone saying that he was overhyped, i have to disagree.
i mean, he just beat yuzu in the 2019 worlds by 23 points. doesn't that say something? one bad skate doesn't define a person.

  5. I feel bad for him 🙁 he’s still so young and he didn’t ask to be “over-hyped” he probably felt so much more pressure from that and lost confidence after falling, Nathan you will get better keep fighting!

  6. Okay so I am not a Chen fan but even I was sad of seeing this. Big Yuzuru fan and was watching an interview in which Chen mentioned exited to compete against yuzuru in the Olympics and made reference to this short program. Ouch

  7. The people in these comment sections trashing Nathan and calling him "overhyped" are wrong. He wasn't over-hyped. Even if his skating wasn't polished at the time and he hadn't yet grasped his artistry and style, he still had a serious chance at gold because of the difficulty of his programs. Unfortunately, he was young and the pressure was too great for such an inexperienced skater and, so, his nerves broke down. Nathan took his failures and learned from them though. Nobody is as cool and collected under pressure as he has been since the Olympics in PyeongChang. And nobody has been as dominant since. The gold medal will be Nathan's to lose in Beijing. All the other skaters are going to have to skate their hearts out in order to have a chance against this three-time reigning world champ.

  8. It's not even about the falls or the jump fails, the way he skates, in general, is just ungraceful and inelegant. He's gliding across the ice rigidly just to make a jump, it's like all he can focus on is the jumps and nothing else is added into his skating. He literally glides half the rink without any step sequences to prepare for a jump, that's unbelievable. This isn't even figure skating anymore if he doesn't care much about the performance elements that are essential within the sport. I've seen a lot of his performances at his top condition, and yes he lands jumps with lots of spins, but his whole demeanor is just rigidity

  9. Who is watching 2022 olympics? Honestly glad to see Nathan has conquered whatever problems plagued this 2018 short program of his.

  13. 113.97 for the Short Program in the next Olympic in Beijing. No one even came close to Chen.

  14. After watching 2022 Gold seeing him here made me cry. I feel many like me find his sweet soul relatable. We fall. We get up. And wow. How beautifully we get up after a number of falls sometimes. And inspire the world along the way. No wonder the heart and soul. Within his performance that won him the gold. It wasn't just in his winning. It was going thru it all. Thanks for the kind reminder sweet angel.
