Young, free and madly in love. As teenagers, the world was their oyster — but as adults, their lives seem dimmer, like a very important piece is missing.

  1. This series was an ART. I was drawn to it, from the trailer until episode 9. Every scenes, scenery, dialogue, flashbacks were immaculate for me. The chemistry between the past and present Yae and Harumichi was so good as well. Ofc Ms Utada Hikaru’s song. Everyone did so great. Definitely one of my favorite drama series! They captured and delivered the First Love vibe we are all familiar with. ❤😊

  2. As mitsushima-san said, watching 'First love' once is never enough, so I saw it twice, and am still craving it ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

  3. This was so good that I binged it and then turned around and binged it again the following day. The threads running through this drama are made of the finest silk…

  4. amszing production, amazing acting and one of the best screenplays i've seen, the twists ares impressive and i actually cry without noticing it. Perfection.

  5. As a Japanese, I am very happy and grateful that this series has been highly acclaimed by people overseas.

I hope that jdrama will become a content that Japan can be proud of in the world like anime, games, Japanese food, and cars, and that people around the world will become familiar with it.

  6. Love it the first time, love it even more the second time, fell in love with #TakeruSatoh the first till the third round 🫶🏻ooops🫢. The more times I watch the more details I see and how romantic all of it was. The acting. The silent tears. ❤💔❤️‍🩹❤️‍🔥the scenes , the soundtrack…

  7. One of the best Japanese dramas I have watched so far. It brought me back from the 90s and slowly forwarded to the 2000s without making my head hurt with the flashbacks. Director Yuri and the team are very commendable and deserves awards pretty soon! Best story telling of a love that bloomed, got lost, and was found again. ❤

  8. The way the two timelines meet in each episode is incredible! I mean, how was it beautifully done?! I love the actors, too! ❤

  9. Didn't know Hikari was such a bubbly and cheerful person. Her acting as desperate and anxiety ladden character in Soredemo Ikite Yuku definitely didn't give this impression at all. Such a great actress!

  10. J dramas are underrated. But most of them are made for domestic market so not many around the world are aware of it unlike K dramas which are meant for global release. So glad to see J drama starting to change this.

  11. love love love the drama it made me infatuated with the old and young Harumichi! Kudos to the crew and actors incredible story was simply done well

  12. Insanely beautiful series. Hoping more special Japanese dramas like this come to Netflix. Storyline and acting was superb. Thank you so much. Congratulations on this masterpiece.

  13. Thank you for the eng subs!!!

I didn't know the director wrote the script too! The whole drama is ART! It's so beautiful. I love the cinematography!!! I love the plot! I love everything about it. And the actors are so good and have great chemistry. It's touching how Hikari did workshops for Taisei and Rikako. I love how both Hikari and Takeru guided them as they're still not experienced.

As Hikari said, watching the drama once is not enough.

  14. that is why i love this japanese series so much because the director of this series is also the director of one of my favorite japanese film "my rainy days (2009)" gosh it is soooo gooood and also bittersweet theme!!!

  15. I agree that it's a drama you would want to watch more than once. I was so impressed by the director's attention to all the itty bitty details and it makes me want to watch it again to revisit what I may have missed. For a drama based on Utada Hikaru's music, I was glad the music score played an important role as well. It felt very nostalgic.

  16. Base on Utada Hikaru first love?.. no need think twice to watch, great storyline, cinematography & cast.

This legendary song hit hard from early 2000 even can't understand kanji or english back then, the song likes time capsule with bittersweet memories everytime you listen it. Last time being watch Love Alarm 1 & 2 and that's good story too its not like K-drama at all under Netflix name, pretty sure this one was deliver same result.
Can't get off of my head his character as hitokiri from best anime – live action movie, same result no one can't replace RDJ as a man using iron suit modern era, Depp as great pirates from 1700, Sorimachi as perfect teacher example.

  17. And I cannot stop my tears from flowing. This is the first-ever Japanese drama series I ever watched and the emotion is unexplainable. This is the most beautiful drama series I ever watched. I love how pure and simple the flow of the story but the emotions are overflowing. I am looking forward to watching more Japanese dramas and movies now.
