  28. when genshin impact launched, i had a list of seiyuu i hoped would join the cast in the future. mimorin fulfilled my wish, and gave such a stellar performance as kokomi. i'm so happy to see her work on this as a talent i love in a game i love.

  33. Kokomi's name has two Kanji phrases:

    心 kokoro means heart
    海 umi means sea

    So her name basically means Heart of the Sea. The thing is, the most standing out anime character from Love Live is Umi Sonoda, and it is stated from her lyrics in the solo album "Mermaid Festa Volume 2" as she wished to become a mermaid, and Kokomi is a mermaid.

    My conclusion, Umi Sonoda just went isekai'd into Genshin Impact as Kokomi, and her wish came true.
