  2. Hellooooooooo Ai-san! That was a great video! Like Su-metal and Moametal, your English is wonderful! I just commented on another video about Su-metal's English and how she has a Southern accent/Texas twang. It makes me curious who is teaching her. I first noticed it during the Songs of Tokyo interview. I never knew she was from Texas, lol! Fox Day is drawing near and still no word. I am getting nervous. You might need to run down to the Babymetal office and wake them up. 😊
Hope you are doing well! Stay Safe! 🤘🦊🤘

  6. Hi AI-chan, great to see you talking about Babymetal again. You found a great topic to talk about.
3:12 if their is one thing we do know: she has good ears. 😉
3:44 this is Nora, she is the tour manager of Babymetal and also in the past for Dir En Grey. Nora also handles things like: pre-approving questions (no questions allowed that are to personal) and for example press photos (Kobametal didn't like some of the photos published about Babymetal in the past (just look up the photo: 'Babymetal kick festival 2015' which has a cool action shot, but also showing things team Babymetal didn't want), so photos now have to be approved before publishing). Something we've also heard is: when the girls were still young they had a 'touring father and mother', Kobametal is the father and I think the mother might be a make up artist or something like that I don't 100% recall (but I know it wasn't Nora).
4:06 especially in the early days they had some things rehearsed so they had something to say in clear spoken English, they want to present themselves as best as possible. Something else Babymetal has is that the group of people involved in touring is bigger than western artists and a promoter said this was very common with Japanese artists. I think this also shows how well prepared Japanese artists want to be when performing overseas.
4:34 it's also stressful for the interviewer, dealing with translations and language barriers, etc. We've also heard from interviewers: we try to always include a question which leads to the famous: "Only The Fox God Knows" answer, because it's such a staple of Babymetal interviews. This means they get even less questions answers, which are always limited because of time, etc.
4:46 we know from a reporter which was able to follow Babymetal for a few days that Babymetal not only is busy with preparations for interviews, performing on stage, occasionally getting time to watch other bands perform at festivals, meeting other bands to take photos and even training new song choreography… but also backstage a festivals they have homework from school they have to do. And studying on the flight back to Japan so they can do a test/exam the next day. This was in 2014 or 2015 and Kobametal (not 100% certain who said it, but probably he did) told the reporter: we aren't going to put as much on the schedule again, this is clearly to much.
6:25 which is exactly why Su-metal always looks at Moametal if their is some misunderstanding. Also means Moametal pays very close attention while Su-metal is speaking so she can help answer questions or give an approving nod to Su-metal.
8:22 I think because there is no direct translation of Japanese idol culture into western culture. At least Kawaii culture is better/easier understood. And probably because they've become more artists than idols.
9:33 the biggest change is that in 2020 interviews you can see even in English interviews they now answer questions much more like they answer questions in Japanese interviews: not rehearsed/less or not prepared.
Something Babymetal has always said even about Japanese interviews for example for radio: we are more nervous for doing interviews than performing on stage.
Yuimetal is really good at staring at the camera and taking souls… just look up a videos on Youtube: 'Yuimetal staring'. 🙂 "YUIMETAL was lost in meditation" is also a fun little video someone made.

    see you !! 🙂
Please ask me questions about what you might want to know, because my guess is their is a lot more to talk about !

  8. I think the practiced answers in the early years is pretty standard for anyone trying to speak in an unfamiliar tongue. There are videos on YouTube of Perfume learning Mandarin phrases before the Taipei shows, Dave Grohl learning Italian, there's even footage of Bill Gates learning Japanese phrases in the early 90s…
What gets me about how they've changed – notice how low Su's speaking voice has become. That woman has such a range!
Thank you so much AI! ✊🏻🤘🏻💕

  10. Hello Ai-san, greetings from Canada… As autohmae has said below, YUIMETAL does not "look randomly somewhere", she fixes the camera to look directly into our souls, she's a renowned soul collector, well at the very least she got mine many years ago… Have a nice day, see you 💖

  13. Watch this whole clip, please:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lWcHccqYVo
Part of the clip shows Babymetal attempting English as early as 2012 when Amuse sent them to Singapore. Koba told them as early as 2012, maybe even before that, that if they wanted an international career, they'd have to learn to speak English. There are other clips that go way before that where they totally fail.

Moa's early attempt to say something in English is extremely funny – she says something straight out of an English textbook in Japan. 😀

  14. Hello from Scotland. I love hearing the girls being interviewed in English & Japanese too. Their English has improved greatly since they began. Particularly Su who is now virtually fluent. Moa is not far behind. Your English isn’t bad either 🦊🙏

  15. Ciao🎶AI
    LIVE AT THE FORUM

    Don't Think
    Feel

  17. I have never seen the much they have grown with english, your video summarize it so well, and I watched some videos I have never seen before thank you for uploading it ❤️.
I'd like to be able to speak so well like them, but in Japanese 🍅

  19. If you enjoy Baby Metal, you should check out a all female metal band from Japan called Lovebites, they sing in ENGLISH and shred

better than male guitarist today. Please check out a song called Holly Wars, live at Zepp Diver City, Tokyo. If you do be

prepared the Wolfpack will invade your channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgAxpEpEcno

  20. Good compilation of them speaking English. I really do hope we hear something from them soon 🙏

  21. Great job Ai-chan! You really capture their development over time! Su-chan now speaks almost as well as you do! Sugoi! It is amusing the way Moa-chan stares at Su-chan, with Yui-chan fixed on the camera… I did not realize that had stopped using the word "idol" to describe themselves! Great observation….otaku for sure! ☺👍 Arigatou gozaimasu…Thank you for all the work Ai-chan…have a great day!

  25. AI as always a great video, I am impressed with all your hard work putting this video together. And your English has improved significantly as well.
Despite Su-metal's Texas twang, her English is almost leve 5 (speaking like a native speaker). Though I am even more impressed with Moa's progress. The tone of her English voice is very pleasing, no Texas twang! Both ladies work very hard at their craft and it shows. The dedication to detail is one reason I believe their English has improved dramatically.

As an aside, in general, musicians tend to learn languages faster. Something about their hearing being more attuned to sounds, which is actually the hardest part of learning a new language – speaking fluently.

  26. Yesss i love how they gotten better and matured over the years, i am looking forward to the future, to see what they will say 🦊🦊
