K-drama actress Hwang Jung Eum has officially been sentenced by the Jeju District Court on charges of embezzlement. On September 25, KST, Judge Im Jae Nam handed her a two-year prison sentence, suspended for four years, for violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes. Hwang Jung Eum admitted to embezzling ₩4.34 billion KRW (around $3.08 million USD) from her company, Hunminjeongeum Entertainment, and reportedly used the funds for cryptocurrency investments, taxes, credit card bills, and loans. Despite prosecutors requesting three years in prison, her repayments and cooperation led to a reduced suspended sentence.
