Mugi’s First Act of Cruelty

When a kindness is offered, it is punished, and a greater darkness is served. From one act can come tremendous power, when the echo has traveled as far as it can. Send a great echo and power will come to you. The day shall come when you can test your strength, Mugi-chan–I promise you.”

Right, so this was a silly thought that crossed my mind. One of the quirks of Knights of the Old Republic II was that whenever you gained Light or Dark Side points, a little musical stinger played. The Dark Side one in particular felt pretty exaggerated.

So it occurred to me that it’d be funny to use that stinger to accompany an infinitesimally petty wrongdoing. Like the sort of thing that would happen in a cute-girls-doing-cute-things anime. Like K-On. Like when Mugi took Mio’s strawberry, to everyone’s astonishment. (Which, since people have been asking, happened in season 2, episode 14: “Summer Days”)

Thus this video was born.

The two music pieces I used are from the KOTOR II soundtrack. They are:

  2. I don't think there was nearly this much set-up in the original manga, because it was a 4-panel comic strip and Kakifly wasn't that good at long-form stuff.

    The buildup to the scene right after this demonstrates that KyoAni at this time were freakin' masters of comedic timing.
