The fusion of BABYMETAL’s unique style with Spiritbox’s heavy sound creates one of the most powerful tracks we’ve heard.

Good reaction.♟🦊♟BABYMETAL are (and always have been) so diverse in their music and Su-metal is so versatile that they are able to adopt or adapt to the style of whoever they choose to collaborate with.
They are very generous and bring the best out of the other artists and still do not lose the essence of BABYMETAL.
This was BABYMETAL demonstrating their class, professionalism and quality and how to work with a featured artist rather than compete against them.
Spiritbox are from Canada. Vocalist Courtney LaPlante and guitarist Mike Stringer both have writing credits on this song, along with Babymetal's writers. Mike had an unused demo with the main riffs that BABYMETAL used to compose the song. They then sent an English translation of their lyrics to Courtney and she wrote her own lyrics to tie in with those.
That was Mike on guitar and I believe Spiritbox also played the instrumentals for the recording.
👍An awesome MV🔥🔥. Nice reaction. 🦊 🖖❤
Thank you for your reaction! SU-METAL’s emotional vocals and Courtney’s intense shouts intertwine beautifully.
This song seems to express a desire to be freed from present suffering and loneliness, and to become strong and beautiful beings like queens.
Although the music video is complex, the story portrays SU-METAL and Courtney’s wish to escape their pain and become powerful, radiant queens. They catch the eye of a mysterious man with green eyes and are chosen as successors to the previous queens.
Main characters:
• The mysterious man with green eyes
• The Black Queen
• The White Queen
• SU-METAL (Pawn)
• Courtney (Pawn)
The lyrics say: “were chosen—my voice, your cry.”
Who chose them? The mysterious man with green eyes.
What were they chosen for? To become queens.
“My voice” refers to SU-METAL, and “your cry” refers to Courtney.
The lyric “Free me from this pain” expresses a strong desire to be released from inner suffering, and in another sense, a longing to become a queen.
At 1:48 in the music video, the mysterious man faintly smiles as he watches SU-METAL sing. Then at 2:11, after hearing Courtney’s scream, the mysterious man is shown in a close-up, seemingly shocked. After that, he slams both fists onto the board, showing his firm resolve. This suggests that, at that moment, he had already decided to make SU-METAL and Courtney the new queens.
At 2:57, all the characters gather. The mysterious man holds the black and white queen pieces in both hands. When he closes his eyes, the board begins to shake, and the two queens fall along with their tiaras. At that moment, SU-METAL and Courtney become the new queens. Finally, the mysterious man tightly grasps the queen pieces in both hands. 😊
This is my personal interpretation of the lyrics and music video as a Japanese viewer.
Since interpretations vary from person to person, I’d be happy if everyone can enjoy this song in their own way!
