  2. I LOVE this song soo much and the MV is so much fun! The meaning behind the title is this, from the MMM wikia:

    "gogobebe" contains MAMAMOO's debut date, June 19 ('619'), and '9/6', which is a witty reversal of the date, in the lyrics, adding meaning to the song by reminiscing about the first meeting with fans. Previously, the number "9966" was released through a comeback teaser image, which is a numerical representation of the song's alphabet abbreviation, which is "ggbb".

    The song was co-written by Solar and Byul. BTW I love how you understand the message of the MV instantly. They bring the party.😂

  4. Agree. Where would daughters be without their mamamoo? Everything about them is inspiring – their music, their journey to success from less than zero industry rejects to vocal gold standard industry icons, their social activism and empowering messages of self-love, and their relentless positivity and fearless pursuit of their artistic goals despite the constant criticism they receive for not fitting into the supposed standard for female idols. I think you live in the UK, is that right? If you can you should take your daughter to see Hwasa in London on the European leg of her current world tour. I just saw her in NY last week and she was beyond fabulous. She'll be in London on May 12.

    Gogobebe is a ton of fun but in addition to the fun & games there are extra layers to the song and MV as well as inside jokes and riddles for the fandom in Moonbyul's "9 / 6" rap verse. Gogobebe is the 4th and final title track in the 4 Season 4 Color series, representing Winter & White. In Paint Me we learned that white is the color of childhood innocence before sexual awakening and in the 4S4C relationship cycle white also represents the stage of being alone in between relationships as life & love cycle around. In the MV we see the girls after a winter of emotional hibernation following the breakup in the Fall/Blue song Wind Flower. Each is stuck in a different rut – Hwasa is so depressed she can't get dressed or even make it out of the bathroom, Solar is housebound and agoraphobic, Moonbyul is trapped in a stifling office with antiquated technology (stuck in the past), and Wheein's self-respect and self-confidence is so low even the kids don't respect her and play a prank on her as she spins round and round in a circle going nowhere. The invitation to a house party acts as a wakeup call that's like an early harbinger of spring bringing them back to life. Just like winter is a necessary season their emotional withdrawal has been a necessary phase but it's time to move on with their lives. Spring is right around the corner and with it will come spring fever, attraction and budding love as life, love and nature cycle around endlessly and inevitably.

    Gogobebe is aka 9966 with 9 replacing g and 6 replacing b. Mamamoo loves to play with letter, number and English/Korean word substitutions. You'll find other examples in Yes I Am and Moonbyul's solo song G999. In the MV we get the kids flipping the 99 and 66 house numbers and then there's Moonbyul's numerological rap line "9 / 6, 6 19, 9 / 6, Gogobebe (9966)!" 9 to 6 is the standard Korean work day. 6 19 is their debut date, June 19th. Gogobebe is just a fun way of spelling Go, go baby! or Let's Party! in the context of the song. So the literal translation of Moonbyul's number code is "Work. Debut. Work. Party!" or "We worked hard to debut and we've been working nonstop ever since. It's time to Par-tay!!" And since 9 / 6, 6 19 is palindrome with the slash becoming a one when reversed I think you get the sense of an endless cycle of Work, Debut, Work, Comeback, Work, Comeback … the life of a kpop idol.

  9. 4 luchadoras, Solar fue rechazada en mas de 40 audiciones, Moonbyul fue obligada a aprender a rapear, Wheein tuvo que pagar las deudas de su progenitor hasta hace pocos años (abandonó a Wheein y su madre pero tomaba dinero a cuenta del nombre de Wheein), Hwasa… contra viento y marea… contra todos los pronósticos logró sus objetivos y ahora en su primera gira como solista se toma sus buenos minutos (12 y contando) para sacarse selfies, firmar autógrafos y reconocer a algunos Twits (el nombre de su fandom como solista). La mas odiada y la mas amada de la industria del kpop.

  12. Gogobebe is the first song where Mamamoo decided to challenge themselves with more difficult choreography. One Million became their go to choreographer. The One Million dance practice for this was my first exposure to Mamamoo, and well worth watching.
