日本人は、神道、仏教双方が習慣や行事に根付いており、神道では、八百万（やおよろず）の神という言葉もある程、神様はそこかしこで私達を守ってくれているという感じです。In Japan, both Shinto and Buddhism are rooted in our customs and events, and in Shintoism, there is a word that there are eight million gods, and we feel as if the gods protect us everywhere.
アニミズム信仰（自然の中に魂が宿っている～富士山、石など）や先祖に守られているという先祖信仰もあります。また、仏教では、不動明王像など怖い顔をしているのは、信者で無くても、命が尽きたら、天国に連れて行くというもので、信者で無い者は全て地獄に落ちるという一神教とは大きく違う点です。
